Network 1 Donates Ethernet Connection to St. Charles Amateur Radio Club
Connectivity will assist the group in furthering its disaster communications services
January 28, 2008; O'Fallon, MO --- Network 1, parent company of O'Fallon Wireless, recently donated a free Ethernet connection to the St. Charles Amateur Radio Club.
The St. Charles Amateur Radio Club is a local non-profit group that spots weather and provides disaster communications throughout the county. The new Ethernet connection, which will be located on their repeater at Westbrook Drive and Montbrook in O'Fallon, will be used to facilitate weather spotting and briefings coming from the National Weather Service in Missouri Research Park.
Many amateur radio clubs across the country have been instrumental in communicating key information to the public through times of disaster, including 9-11, Hurricane Katrina, and the recent storms in the Pacific Northwest.
"As we move into new municipalities across the St. Louis region, we are always looking for ways to fill technology needs within the community," said Mark O'Neal, Vice President at Network 1.
O'Fallon Wireless, powered by Network 1, was created to provide a cost efficient alternative to the residents and businesses of O'Fallon. Network 1 launched the O'Fallon Wireless network on the north side of O'Fallon, Missouri (north of Highway 70) on October 19, 2007. The wireless network is schedule to go live south of Interstate Highway 70 in O'Fallon on Feb. 1, 2008.
The Network 1 management team has been in the communications and technology industry for over 15 years, and its engineers and executive management staff members have worked for some of the largest telecom companies in the world. O'Fallon Wireless, powered by Network 1, combines an easy to install, low cost service with high quality proven technology.
